I had great fun this morning as I was interview by a group of Year 6 pupils as part of their World Book Day celebrations. I went to university with the form’s teacher, Mrs Gresty, and the class at the Hollins Grundy school in Bury had some great questions! These ranged from have I always …

To all the women who think that they are not good enough – you are. To all the women who think they are useless and unworthy – you are valued. To all the women who think they are ugly – you are beautiful. To all the women who think that they are unlovable – you …

Mad March hares

by Samantha Mattocksupdated on October 6, 2021March 1, 2021 Leave a Comment on Mad March hares

It was something of a relief to turn over the calendar to a new month this morning. January was full of dark and grey days and, in spite of it being my birthday month, I struggled. Then came the rain and snow of February, and it felt as though winter would never end. Spring always …

An interview by Business Life Online

by Samantha Mattocksupdated on October 6, 2021October 10, 2020 Leave a Comment on An interview by Business Life Online

During the height of lockdown last summer, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Business Life Online for their podcast. The brainchild of Richard Maun and Anna Stevenson, the podcast (which is also available on Spotify) The focus was on writing – how I write, how I got into writing and, of course, Sandstorm …

September days

by Samantha Mattocksupdated on October 6, 2021September 7, 2020 Leave a Comment on September days

Oh autumn, how I love thee… The bounty in the hedgerows, that amazing light as the sun begins its descent in the sky, and that slight chill in the air that makes you begin to think about log fires and big bowls of veggie-packed stews and soups. There is no doubt that 2020 has been …

100 days of lockdown

by Samantha Mattocksupdated on October 6, 2021June 30, 2020 Leave a Comment on 100 days of lockdown

Today marks 100 days of lockdown here in the UK. I have just written my latest column for Norfolk Online and in that I lament the loss of one of life’s greatest pleasures – one that we definitely all took for granted – and that is a cup of coffee with a friend. Whether spontaneous …

  • A huge thank you to @paris1983_ for such an amazing makeover today @jarroldbeautyhall @jarroldnorwich

I have never done 'the red lip' but Paris assured me it would work - and he was right! I learned loads of new techniques during my session, as well as being introduced to products I possibly should already be familiar with!

Thank you Paris for making me be bold in my colours. Ladies, he is brilliant - I heartedly suggest you book a makeover with him, especially as we go into summer days.
  • Happy May Day everyone! I am loving all the blossoms and colours everywhere right now, and the garden is alive with nature. This is my favourite time of year; when is yours?
  • When chocolate meets flowers... Time out this morning @the_yard_coffee for a catch up and pick me up.
  • I am excited to share my new logo with you!

There is a theme running through all of my logos - the colours; the red and gold are the colours of @thearabianmagazine which I founded in 2004.

The quill was first seen in my revised logo for @thedelicatediner where I wanted to convey that I also wrote about food and the people within the industry as well as sharing recipes and reviews.

I love this logo, and to see it go from concept to reality, has been great
fun. I hope you like it, too!
  • *Publishing anniversary!*

Two years today since I first published Sandstorm. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would receive such a positive reaction from around the world, or that so many of you would fall in love with the characters in the same way that I did writing them.

Thank you to all who have purchased Sandstorm and enjoyed it - you are all a part of its story now 🧡
  • Beautiful skies this morning - summer is just around the corner. I love the first fingers of sunrise giving the moon a blush glow.
  • At the blue bar in the Novotel Dubai - scene of some of the action within Sandstorm, including an iconic scene with Sienna and one other. It was great to be back - no spoilers here!
