I was honoured on Tuesday night to be awarded the Norwich Writers Members Shield for my entry into the 2023 Olga Sinclair Prize.
The Olga Sinclair Prize is a short story, up to 2,000 words, written on a theme. This year’s theme was The Sea, and my piece was inspired by a phrase I wrote in Beth Kempton’s brilliant Winter Writing Sanctuary – the waves of undulating ice tides. When I saw the theme, I knew I had to write about a frozen sea and, as ever, the piece wrote itself.
Tuesday night was quite surreal for me. Not only launching Mister Mishkins Apothecary, but then being awarded the Members Shield among incredible company. My piece, Breaking Through will be available in the anthology published later this year. I’ll keep you posted on when it is available, and where you can buy it.
