I had the most beautiful delivery in the post toda I had the most beautiful delivery in the post today! I subscribe to @generosityofspirit Substack, and last Sunday, she mentioned that she has bracelets made each year with her word of the year on. Intrigued, I hit the link and arrived at @thatwildfeeling I already knew my word for 2026 - free - but where you can choose the colour of the stones to go with the bracelet, I left a message instead for Rachel, the owner. I explained about my life as a writer, my sun and moon signs, and that I will be 50 at the end of the month - and I left it up to her. One quick e-mail conversation where Rachel wanted to clarify I was happy with her choices, and this stunning bracelet arrived today with citrine, yellow agate, sodalite, and blue agate. With it, Rachel included a special note explaining her choices. They are just perfect. I love this idea of wearing my word for the year, a reminder of my dreams when the going becomes a little trickier than we would like. And I shall no doubt order one for every year going forward, a visual nudge to look back at the path we dare to dance upon.

On the plus side, he got to watch the birds on his feeder and have exclusive time with his mum. On the downside, there were no Pandas to play with. How was your Monday? We always start January with hot pot. My mum has b We always start January with hot pot. My mum has been making it for as long as she can remember, boiling down the turkey carcass, removing the last of the meat, and adding turnip, swede, carrots, parsnips, and potatoes. Simple dried basil and fresh bay, a good grind of pepper, and dumplings added for high days and holidays. This is bone broth in its most basic form, and it is warming, hearty and delicious. The @wholefoodwarrior would approve, I am sure! Now to go and warm the pot once more for day three. The last of the turkey is already in, a beauty from Mobbs & Sons, with veggies from @giddensthompson So local, so tasty. I think we may just have enough for lunch tomorrow - and then I need to find something from the freezer to cook! January is all about low maintenance and nourishment. Perfect.
My Word of the Year for 2026 came to me quite quic My Word of the Year for 2026 came to me quite quickly last year. I was in a session with the brilliant mavens at the Southwood Social Hub, and I wrote the word FREE. As I did so, I knew that had to be my word of the year for 2026. I feel as though I am where I finally dreamed of being six years ago, and I have finally evolved both businesses to where I need them to be as I step into 2026. With that comes a sense of freedom, and 'free' and 'freedom' are words that I keep on seeing and hearing, over and over. Always a sign that one is on the right path. What is your word of the year? Do you believe in a word to help set your course through the coming twelve months, or do you think it's just another gimmick? Either way, I'd love to know your thoughts.
