Return to the blue bar…

by Samantha Mattocksupdated on April 11, 2022April 11, 2022 Leave a Comment on Return to the blue bar…

In March, I returned to Dubai and the Novotel World Trade Centre – the scene for many an escapade within Sandstorm, and also home to the legendary blue bar. It felt great to be back in a place that inspired me so much, and is also the setting for one of the raunchiest scenes in …

I am so excited to share with you the new cover for my debut novel, Sandstorm. The original cover image was a painting by my dear friend, Shannon Lawlor, chosen with the Arabian horse in mind. However, Sandstorm quickly reached people not familiar with the world of the Arabian horse and thus a new cover …

One of those days you dread. We lost our beautifu One of those days you dread.

We lost our beautiful homebred mare, Rosaliah Gold, this morning. She was 29. She did so much, and meant so much to many. But to us, she was our lovely Rosie Posie, and she was one in a million.

She is pictured here with my dad, showing at the UK International back in the 90s.

Run free, sweet girl. You will be so very much missed. X

Possibly the most incredible feedback I have ever Possibly the most incredible feedback I have ever received:

" I personally, have never read such a fantastic children's book. You are taken on this incredible journey that moves the characters from their worries into a positive and loving headspace."

This came via a friend who bought the books for his friend. I do not know here, nor did I ask for feedback. When this was sent to me last night, I was completely blown away. This feedback truly is the stuff of dreams... Thank you.

Today is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day - and who bet Today is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day - and who better to share today than Mister Mishkins!

This is my story of how Mishkins not only helps children around the world with their fears and worries, but healed my own heart once he arrived in my life.

Happy Ginger Cat Day, Mister M! You are truly one in a million 🐈

It is time to say hello to September, the month th It is time to say hello to September, the month that can bring Indian summers, stunning sunsets, glorious moon rises, and the first gentle reminder from nature that letting go of things can be beautiful. It is time for crumpets and crumbles, fluffy socks and Strictly, and a certain nostalgic yearning for new stationery. My mistake - the stationery thing happens every day for me, and my notebook addiction is real! I am trying to use them, honest, but then I see new ones and, well, they have to join my library.

Notebooks aside, what are you looking forward to this month? Let me know your plans.

May your month be filled with joy, whatever that may mean to you.

The first review is in! I always worry about sha The first review is in!

I always worry about sharing reviews - it's that thing of not wanting to come across as boastful or 'look at me', but if I don't share then, them no one will know! So, here goes...

"5 stars
"More cats, rainbows, butterflies and a dog!

"A gorgeous further glimpse into a magical, colourful and supportive world.
"Such a beautiful backdrop of kindness and fun.

"Gently acknowledging and addressing everyday fears and concerns for middle grade children(7-10 ISH). Great for reading with younger children who are entranced with the charming illustrations, and accessible for confident readers.
"Love the introduction of a dog this time, and all are eagerly awaiting more stories of both cats and dogs and of course the magical Mister Mishkins."

Thank you so much to the reviewer. If you are intrigued and would like to support my dreams, you can order your copy online, pop into your local bookshop and order it in, or request via carrier pigeon. Thank you.

The most active I have been this weekend: making p The most active I have been this weekend: making peanut butter and dark chocolate cookies in the air fryer.

Sitting still does not come naturally to me, but I have been struggling with my health since March. I am now into the realms of chronic-fatigue syndrome, not really a place I want to be, and awaiting yet more blood test results.

August has been an intense month, with the book launch, GCAT London, and more that I have not shared here. With that in mind, I have taken advantage of the long weekend and firmly pressed the pause button.

Resting truly is the power of good, and I felt renewed enough to throw these ingredients together and bake. I think this may be the first time I have baked this year, and certainly not what I had planned. But these nutty, chewy, chocolatey cookies hit the spot. Less than five minutes hands-on time, and 45 minutes later, you have delicious cookies to enjoy.

I am now in the garden, enjoying the sunshine and listening to the wind blowing through the trees. Bliss. Rest. Breathe.

Have a lovely bank holiday, all, and a great week ahead. Samantha xx
